Milan Parikh

Milan Parikh
(President)

Milan is from Cincinnati, Ohio and double majored in Medical Sciences and Statistics while at the University of Cincinnati. He is a first-year medical student in the Medical Scientist Training Program here at Northwestern. Milan started his musical journey with piano lessons in first grade and has been playing flute in bands and orchestras and singing in choirs since fifth grade. He is very excited to be the President for NMO!

Niko Kyriacou

Niko Kyriacou
(Vice President)

Niko grew up in the Chicago suburbs and played trombone and bass trombone semi-professionally before attending the University of Michigan to study mechanical engineering. Now, Niko works as a mechanical designer for a local engineering firm. Niko joined NMO in the summer of 2022 and is thrilled to serve as Vice President.

Amir Darbar

Amir grew up in Chicago and studied computer science at the University of Chicago. He is now a first-year medical student in the Medical Scientist Training Program. Music has been a large part of Amir’s life from violin lessons elementary school to his college orchestra and is looking forward to serving as NMO’s Orchestra Treasurer.

Jumobi Arowolo

Hi! My name is Jumobi Arowolo and I am an M1 at Feinberg. I graduated from UIC in 2023 and grew up in the surrounding suburbs of Chicago, so I’ve been around the city for a while! I play the flute in NMO and I enjoy playing the ukulele and piano (though my skills have long since vanished) on the side. I’m super excited to be one of the Music Coordinators for this year!

Julia Kaniuk

Julia Kaniuk, originally from Geneva, IL, earned dual degrees in Molecular Neuroscience and Biochemistry from Loyola University Chicago. Currently, she is a first-year medical student at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Julia plays the oboe and English horn with the Northwestern Medical Orchestra, where she’s been involved since Fall 2023 and now serves as co-music coordinator.

Shreya Aalla <br /> (Co-Librarian)

Shreya grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and studied Neuroscience at the University of Illinois at Chicago. While at UIC, she played clarinet in their Symphonic Band and saxophone in their Pep Band. She currently works in research at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab with interests in neuromodulation and wearable sensors. She is grateful for the opportunity to stay involved with music after college and looks forward to serving as NMO’s co-librarian for 2025.

My name is Britta! I am originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Palatine to be exact. I play the violin and am sharing the role of librarian with Shreya Aalla!

Celeste Lai

Celeste is from Novi, Michigan and majored in Neuroscience with a Biology concentration at Northwestern University. She is currently a first-year medical student here at Feinberg. Having played the violin and piano since elementary school and been in orchestra since the fifth grade, Celeste is thrilled to continue her passion for music through the NMO and its officer board!

Charlotte Lo

Charlotte Lo
(Orchestra Manager)

Charlotte is from Cleveland, Ohio and studied sports medicine and exercise physiology at Rice University. She is a first year medical student at Northwestern and is a member of the viola section. She has been playing viola since childhood and loved playing in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra back home. She is looking forward to serving as NMO’s orchestra manager this year!

Dan Schwarzlose

Dan Schwarzlose
(Director of Operations)

Dan is NMO’s Director of Operations and former trumpet section leader. A native of Evanston, IL, he attended Northwestern for undergraduate studies and worked at Feinberg for 6 years. Dan currently works for the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC, and loves exploring the local mountains and forests with his wife Savy and dog Kronos. He misses playing in NMO, but is thrilled to contribute remotely in this new role.
